During his presentation at Digital Dealer, Tom Gregg emphasized the significance of having the right mindset when acquiring vehicles from private sellers. He referred to it as 'street buying' and drew inspiration from a famous saying by Henry Ford: "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right." This quote encapsulates the essence of Gregg's message about the importance of attitude and perception in business.
 

Gregg shared instances of used car managers who regarded engaging with sellers as a waste of time, primarily because they believed the sellers were asking too much for their vehicles. Gregg's response highlighted a self-fulfilling prophecy: if you believe that interactions with sellers will be futile, they most likely will be. On the other hand, adopting a mindset toward success and opportunity can lead to positive outcomes.

The role of mindset in the process of vehicle acquisition should not be underestimated. Gregg emphasizes the importance of a proactive, optimistic approach, suggesting that one's attitude and willingness to see potential where others see obstacles can greatly influence success in this field.
